Following on from the successful model of choirs based in Sydney Australia Hummingsong goes international and is now a welcome addition to the international community of Hilversum in The Netherlands. (20 mins from Amsterdam)

Hummingsong choirs are community choirs and never forget that the first word – community – is also the most important. They make the best music they can, but always make sure they’re having fun and enjoying one another’s company more than anything else.

While many of their members have dabbled in music all their lives in some capacity, others have embraced singing for the first time in this choir. Reading music is not necessary because music can be learned by ear. The choir is open to all ages and experiences and is non-auditioned.

Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings during school term time at the Annagebouw building, Emmastraat 3, Hilversum  (Behind Saint Vitus church – free parking)

We run from 7:30 to 9:30pm including a tea break.

Whatever kind of music you like, you’ll probably experience it with this new choir. Drawing from a wide range of styles, across the centuries, from Renaissance to soul and pop hits, through African spirituals to jazz to standards, there will be something for everyone. And there will be regular performances!

This new international choir is conducted by musician and performing arts teacher,  Natasha Parry. Having performed and taught in various ensembles for the last 25 years, she has extended Hummingsong beyond its Australian borders to create its first international choir. Natasha is a committed and passionate teacher who is dedicated to creatively enriching the international community.

There are various opportunities to perform for loved ones and the wider community. Previous performances have been held at the MCO (Muziekcentrum van de Omroep) and Podium de Vorstin, Hilversum.  Smaller events throughout the year have included Naarden Vesting Vestival Vocaal, a ‘Flash Mob’ in support of a local arts festival, and short performances at retirement homes and community fairs.  Profits from larger events go to charity.

Fees – and what you get!

Because we all have busy lives, you only need to commit to one term at a time. The dates for each new term are posted within the members section.

Term lengths are variable depending on how school holidays fall within the year.

Fees of €12 per rehearsal include your music, MP3 recordings (download and burn to CD or put on your MP3 player/iPod!).

Payment for the whole term is due by the second week of the term. These can be paid in cash at the first rehearsal or by direct bank transfer.

Upon registering you will receive password access to the members area where you can find Hummingsong resources.
