The Netherlands – Hilversum and Utrecht

Be part of a dynamic and welcoming community of women in Hilversum

and also, starting September 2018 in Utrecht!

Testimonials from choir members and our audience:

“I want to thank you so, so much for making this choir so unbelievably enjoyable. You have made me feel a million times better and, most amazingly, more relaxed. I can not thank you enough for this.”

“I am full of admiration for the way you bring together us women from different backgrounds and cultures, different age groups, and different levels of musical training to blend our voices in sweet harmony. You make it seem so effortless and are an amazing teacher –  that is such a special gift.  Music truly unites, and being a part of our group is uplifting and soul-refreshing.    I feel very blessed to sing with Sing Out – something I never expected when I came to live in Holland five years ago.  Life is full of wonderful surprises.”

“I had never been to a choir concert before, I was so happily surprised by the originality, the variation and the energy. It was really inspiring to see such vibrant women perform”

Following on from the successful model of choirs based in Sydney Australia Hummingsong goes international and is now a welcome addition to the international community of Hilversum in TheNetherlands, (within half an hour of Amsterdam). “Sing Out” is also coming to the city of Utrecht beginning in September 2018.

Hummingsong choirs are community choirs and never forget that the first word – community – is also the most important. They make the best music they can, but always make sure they’re having fun and enjoying one another’s company more than anything else.

While many of their members have dabbled in music all their lives in some capacity, others have embraced singing for the first time in this choir. Reading music is not necessary because music can be learned by ear. The choir is open to all ages and experiences and is non-auditioned.

Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings during school term time in the Annagebouw building, Emmastraat 3, Hilversum  (Behind Saint Vitus church – free parking)

Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings during school term time in International School Utrecht, Van Bijnkershoeklaan 8, Utrecht

Rehearsals in both locations run from 7:30 to 9:30pm including a tea break.

Whatever kind of music you like, you’ll probably experience it at “Sing Out”. Drawing from a wide range of styles, across the centuries, from Renaissance to soul and pop hits, through African spirituals to jazz to standards, there will be something for everyone.

In the Netherlands “Sing Out” choirs are conducted by musician and performing arts teacher,  Natasha Parry. Having performed and taught in various ensembles for the last 25 years, she has extended Hummingsong beyond its Australian borders to create its first international choirs. Natasha is a committed and passionate teacher who is dedicated to creatively enriching the international community.

There are various opportunities to perform for loved ones and the wider community. Previous performances have been held at the MCO (Muziekcentrum van de Omroep) and Podium de Vorstin, Hilversum.  Smaller events throughout the year have included Naarden Vesting Vestival Vocaal, a ‘Flash Mob’ in support of a local arts festival, and short performances at retirement homes and community fairs.  Profits from larger events go to charity.
