Hummingsong Choirs – Songs of Soul with Darren Percival

Over three hundred voices of Hummingsong Community Choirs are combining with the rapturous tones of singer Darren Percival for one enthralling night.

Songs of Soul will offer a multitude of tunes from around the world, certain indeed to stir souls, and get feet tapping. From the music of Stevie Wonder, such as ‘I Believe (When I Fall in Love) and ‘Isn’t She Lovely’, and Queen (‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’), to an Arabic piece with electrifying rhythms and textures, the concert offers something for every taste. Other selections from Riverdance, and from the Torres Strait and South Africa will be augmented by arrangements composed by choir conductors and singers.

Hummingsong Community Choirs, brainchild of Founder and Artistic Director Anna Humberstone, are a network of women’s a cappella choirs based in different locations on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and North Shore. The members sing, laugh and grow together, and also, through performances like this one, raise money for local women’s refuges – over $75 000 the past four years.

The warm, powerful voice of Darren Percival mesmerises listeners across the country. Even before his appearances during The Voice Australia—where he was to become the 2012 runner-up—Darren’s astonishing performances were establishing him as one of Australia’s most accomplished entertainers. But he also works passionately with communities to empower people through their own music.

Experience community singing at its soul-enriching best, while also supporting women and children escaping domestic violence.
